Mike Whitley

Michael Whitley

 

Mike has been a project manager for more than 3 decades in the construction and IT fields.  He specializes in infrastructure and application development projects, and is currently working for PCU3ED in San Ramon on cybersecurity, finance and root-cause analysis intiatitives in the oil/gas industry.  He is a proud Sonoma County resident, living in Cotati.

He is a PMP, and has been a member of PMI and the Wine Country Chapter since 2005.  Mike is currently preparing to sit for the PMI-ACP credential in early 2018

Mike is an advocate/SME in the specialty field of 'Lessons Learned'.  Over the past decade, he has implemented and improved Lessons Learned processes in several Bay Area firms.  He continues to research and develop more robust Lessons Learned practices and processes.

He has hosted a monthly PM Roundtable for the past 13 years, first in Novato and now in San Rafael @ BioMarin, and enjoys learning about the experiences of other project managers and mentoring PMs as they enter the industry.

 

 Mike currently serves as Chief Information Officer (CIO) on the PMI-WCC Board of Directors

Kate O'Connor

Kate O’Connor is an experienced healthcare consultant specializing in organizational and operational solutions for healthcare companies. Kate started her consulting practice, Healthcare Business Management, LLC in 1997 and lives in Santa Rosa.

Kate joined the PMI-WCC Board filling a vacated position as the Logistics VP in April of 2016 and then served as the COO in 2017 and is looking forward to serving again as the Wine Country Chapter Secretary starting in January of 2019.

Recently she became certified as a Long Term Care Ombudsman serving the Senior Advocacy Services of Sonoma County.

I worked in various project management capacities in the United Arab Emirates from 2008 until 2016 while executing high-end, custom aquarium projects in the UAE and beyond. During that time I had the opportunity to manage many projects in challenging circumstances and learned firsthand the difficulties and rewards of project management.

In 2016 I became interested in project management best practice. I felt that many of the challenges that I was facing in managing my projects were not unique and likely had good answers from well experienced project managers. This interest led me to start studying some books on project management, which led me in short order to pursue certification as a PMP.

I was certified as a PMP in Dubai in September 2016 and immediately joined the PMI Khaleeji Chapter. I was an active member and attended regular chapter meetings as well as the Dubai International Project Management Forum. During these events I enjoyed learning more about project management and especially connecting with other practitioners.

Early in 2017 I moved back to Sonoma County to look for work as a project manager and quickly joined the PMI Wine Country Chapter. I was immediately impressed with the warmth of welcome and depth of experience that I found in the chapter.

Aside from project management I enjoy spending time with my wife Sarah and our two children, serving in my church, and fly fishing when I can find the time.
I would be honored to serve the Wine Country Chapter and to extend to others what the chapter has already extended to me.

Al has over 20 years of experience managing projects in finance and software development. He holds a degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana in finance and has been working with small and medium sized companies in a wide range of areas including: Options valuation, portfolio management, member CBOE/CME, real estate, and retail operations, and class action administration.

He has also served on three boards of directors and is currently the board vice president of The Libraries for Peace Project. He joined the Wine County Chapter in 2012 and worked on the chapter’s recent PDD event in financial planning.

Joshua is a proud Eagle Scout and Scout Leader within his community, an achievement and service he continues to recognize as being a fundamental building block to his success today. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business, received his MBA in Marketing and Finance, and earned his Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Six Sigma Black Belt license and advanced certification.

After completing his education, Joshua joined the military as an Officer with the U.S. Army. He served in the Special Operations community, traveled the world, and visited 49 states and 34 countries. Following his service, Joshua utilized his strategic leadership training and skills to expand his career, and entered the Oil/Gas industry. He followed the dynamic change with a further expansion and transitioned into the robust healthcare sector as a Senior Executive, a role which allowed him to build thriving businesses, mentor, educate and train future leaders, as well as serve patient communities across the country.

Joshua left his tenure in healthcare to pursue his passion further, creating a business to serve his community and partner with the largest real estate brokerage in the World, Keller Williams, to begin a practice in Marin County. By combining his scouting and military values with his organizational healthcare experience, Joshua serves, mentors and supports individuals and families within his local and global community to buy, sell or invest in real estate property. As the natural disaster director in Marin County, he combines his unique in-depth knowledge of the county to help buyers and sellers in ways that are unimaginable to most.

Joshua has served the PMI-WCC Board as VP of Marketing, and currently serves on the Board as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
