'Behind the Scenes of the Oct. '17 Fire Fight' - Cheryl Fonseca, Susan Sloan & Jonathan Kajeckas
When the first calls for last year's Sonoma County firestorm rang into '911', fire & police resources were not the only ones that sprang into action.
Amidst the ensuing chaos and terror, the County of Sonoma’s ISD department (as well as the County's Public Safety – ISD Central Support Team) kicked into action, setting into motion well-rehearsed plans for their management teams which helped coordinated the myriad of Logistics in the Emergency Operations Center, side-by-side supporting the representatives from each department at the County. A smaller ISD division, the Central Support Team supported the ‘IT’ needs for the Public Safety Systems of the local police, fire, and emergency agencies as well as the ‘911’ Dispatchers (behind the scenes), to help ensure that the public was kept out of harm.
Join us for a recounting of their experiences and get a chance to understand better how these teams prevented this event from becoming a disaster.
We will also have a special performance of 'Fireproof', a song by Roger Illsley, a local from Santa Rosa who lost his house in the wildfires.
