Project Management Skills in Wildlife Rescue
Wildlife rescue isn’t just about saving animals, it takes putting together the ever moving puzzle pieces of planning, coordination, and resource management. Wildlife rescue work requires efficient project management skills to ensure effective rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife. In this presentation we will explore the management of a wildlife rescue from intake to release. An aspect this presentation will focus on resource management and stakeholder engagement for wildlife release programs. From opossum to bobcat to bears (oh my!), you may not be able to solve the wildlife puzzle the same way every time.

Meet the speaker:
Katie Woolery is the Assistant Animal Care Director of Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue. She was born and raised here in Sonoma County where she developed a dutiful appreciation for all aspects of nature. She attended graduated California State Polytechnic in Pomona with a BS in Environmental Biology. While in college and after graduation she worked as an animal keeper at Safari West in Santa Rosa. Katie began her time at Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue as an Animal Care Assistant where she realized a deep passion for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Working closely with the Animal Care Director, she fell in love with the work and decided she was in it for the long haul when promoted to Assistant Animal Care Director. She now spends her time facilitating programs and projects across the rescue. This will include construction of predator enclosures, stakeholder management with government organizations, other wildlife facilities, and community partners. Katie can also be found in the hospital and around the property working closely with animal care staff and volunteers making sure the wildlife that come through our doors have the best care we can possibly give.
